Your bio is the first thing people read on your profile, and you only get 150 characters. Enter your name or brand, what you do and what you want visitors to do next. The generator writes several bio ideas with line breaks and emoji, and shows the character count for each one.

What a good Instagram bio says

    1. Who you are: your name or brand, so people know they found the right account.
    2. What you do: one short line about your work or topic.
    3. Why you: what makes you different, such as your style, your results or your city.
    4. What to do next: a call to action that points to your link, your messages or your shop.

    Tips before you paste

    • Change a word or two so the bio sounds like you.
    • Keep the most important line first. Many visitors read only the first line.
    • Line breaks count as characters. Check the final text in our Instagram character counter.
    • If Instagram removes your line breaks, run the bio through the line break generator.
    • Want one line in a different style? Use the Instagram font generator.

Once the profile is ready, see our Instagram followers.

    Common questions

How long can an Instagram bio be?

Up to 150 characters, including spaces, emoji and line breaks.

Should I use emoji in my bio?

One or two emoji help break up the text and draw the eye to your call to action. Turn them off in the generator if your brand is more formal.

Can I put a link in my bio?

Yes. Instagram has a separate field for links in Edit profile, so use the bio text to tell people why they should tap it.
